I had a big breakthrough recently. An annoyingly obvious, slightly boring, life-changing breakthrough.
I always put my visions in the future. So that’s exactly where they stayed, just out of reach.
I mean, it is the default place to put them (we visualize about what’s ahead, not here…and that’s the problem).
The dreams, the big ideas, they were always arriving tomorrow, but never today. Always coming, so never quite here.
I was waiting for finish lines. An imaginary finish line.
And on my way to that illusion, I never felt it (because how could I? I was putting the vision in the future, waiting for it to arrive before I felt it).
I never enjoyed the ride or felt like I was living in my dream…living from the dream.
Consequently, I never fully became the person I needed to become to actually achieve the thing I wanted. Not fully, at least. Not in a sustainable way.
I kept putting my ideas ahead, not letting myself enjoy the feeling of being in them. I was creating from the totally wrong identity.
So I spun up this idea and put it in a video, the art of living from your dream life.
Operative word, from.
Parts of it feel cringe. It’s hard to put yourself out there and express your ideas…show your face, share your ideas.
Here are some footnotes too:
Any dream life you want can begin right now, the moment you decide to act out the scenes from your mind…and like, really feel into them. Fully embracing your new role and legit becoming that person.
Because, this is a hard thing to accept, but it’s not the thing (or the situation) we want. It’s the feeling we get from it.
Freedom, relaxation, excitement, love…
All these feelings are totally available right now. Not always easy to tap into, but technically there. And whenever I feel the feeling first, I create from the version of myself who’s already achieved the vision.
The dream life isn’t a thing or a place, it’s a feeling. And to really own the feeling, you gotta love the messy, uncomfortable, sometimes ugly middle…because that’s exactly where the life you want exists (not at some finish line).
And yea, I’m entering my YouTube era (follow me if ya keen to stay in that loop!)
Creating video essays has been a dream of mine for a while, but I always held back, waiting for “the right moment” or just half-assing it (w/rushed ideas that never stuck their landing). So this video is about living from your dream, and it’s also me doing the exact thing I’m yapping about.
A lot of the ideas I talked about in my blog will be turned into video projects, with a backdrop of travel, art and music. The goal: become more chill, live more creative, embrace unknowns, and deep dive into esoteric corners of the universe.
Alright, as always, thanks for reading and watching, see ya next time.
Later ✌️
